Bixby Director serves as Keynote Speaker of Touro University’s Public Health Hero Day Awards

April 7, 2016 / Tomomi Mori / News

Our Director, Dr. Ndola Prata will serve as the Keynote Speaker of the Public Health Hero Day Awards! The Hero Awards Reception will take place Thursday, April 7th from 12pm-2pm at the Farragut Inn Ballroom, Touro University in Vallejo, California.

The purpose of this annual award ceremony is to highlight the work of students and community members who have demonstrated significant contributions and a commitment to public health service and research focused on reducing health disparities and improving health equity. This event was originally established in 2007 in conjunction with the Day of Compassion, which recognized Touro Medical students who died in a plane crash on their way to a medical mission.

In 2010, the Public Health Hero Award became aligned with Public Health Week during the first week of April.  Since that time, Touro University has honored individuals for their distinguished activities which support the Public Health Program’s mission “to promote the health and wellbeing of local and global communities through education, service, and research with a focus on underserved populations.”

The attached flyer provides detailed information about the event and location.

Please see the Touro University webpage for more details and pictures to come!
