Bay Area Bixby Nexus Workshop

February 21, 2014

The UC Berkeley Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability and the UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health will launch a new collaborative, the Bay Area Bixby Nexus, and convened the inaugural meeting to launch a series of Workshops aimed at fosteing greater collaboration and synergy between the two Bay Area UC Bixby Centers. The meeting was hosted by UC Berkeley Bixby Center, co-chaired by Phil Darney (UCSF) and Ndola Prata (UCB) and included a special welcome from UCB School of Public Health Dean Stefano M. Bertozzi.
This first Bay Area Bixby Nexus Workshop provided an opportunity for Bay Area Bixby faculty and academic staff to get acquainted and participate in a facilitated interactive mapping session outlining the scope of each Center’s respective research agendas. Through dynamic dialogue and a lively exchange of ideas, Bixby participants identified common themes and overlapping areas of research interests. Breakout groups identified strategies for prioritizing and pursuing opportunities for collaboration.
Bay Area Bixby Nexus Workshop Final Report (February 2014) summarizes the workshop & ideas for follow up action.
