Celia Chessin-Yudin

This summer, Celia interned for a non-governmental organization called the Human Needs Project (HNP). The (HNP) is an international organization situated in Kibera, one of the largest slums in Africa, in Nairobi, Kenya and is currently building a water and sanitation project, in the construct on a Town Center in the Gatwikera village of Kibera. Celia focused much of her research on the reproductive health and family planning needs in the area, spending the summer conducting personal interviews with local Kiberans, Kiberan pharmacies, clinics, NGOs and INGOs working on family planning. Ultimately Celia produced an assessment and proposal for how the Town Center should address the family planning and reproductive health needs of the Kiberan community.
