
Dr. Tami Rowen is an obstetrician and gynecologist in the University of California, San Francisco Division of Gynecology, specializing in providing care for women with reproductive and sexual health concerns and family planning needs. She is a Bixby Associate Fellow. While completing a joint medical program at UC Berkeley and UCSF, Dr. Rowen conducted research supported by the Bixby Center focused on traditional birth attendants in Bangladesh. She has also worked with the Bixby Center on family planning research and clinical training in Angola. Additionally, she has clinical experience in traditional birth practices in Guatemala. She has participated in research on contraception in Mozambique and Uganda and conducted clinical research related to safe abortion in California. She has also worked on several national and international studies regarding women’s sexual health.
