Research Position Opening at Bixby Center

The Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability has one opening at the Specialist level. The position is a two-year appointment. Position involves onsite collaboration with the David & Lucile Packard Foundation in Los Altos as part of their Program Research Analyst initiative for the US subprogram.

Duties: Work closely with the Bixby Center’s family planning and reproductive health researchers in the design and implementation of projects in the US. Develop and implement own research project on topics approved by the Bixby Center and Packard Foundation with a domestic focus. Work on a range of projects related to reproductive health including impact of programs, lessons learned from the field, monitoring and evaluation, and grant making. Required to perform literature reviews, analyze and summarize results and present scientific papers at professional meetings. Support development of Foundation strategy and review documents. Travel as needed to attend conferences or visit grantees in the US. Communicate with grantees of the Foundation and external consultants supporting the implementation of reproductive health and rights programs.

Qualifications:

Basic (At the time application)

Master’s degree or equivalent degree in Public Health or related advanced degree.

Additional (By appointment start date)

• Experience with reproductive health and rights topics in the US.

• Experience with program monitoring and evaluation.

• Strong communication and writing skills.

• Familiar with health systems and health care provision.

• Strong quantitative skills and knowledge of research methods.

• Ability to use data sets and knowledge of statistical analysis.

• Willing to travel regularly (up to 20%) both domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred

Minimum 2 years’ experience working on United States reproductive health and/or rights.

The targeted start date is June 1, 2016. The position will remain open until filled.
